"The motion picture industry needs creators who are willing to shake things up and reject the old unsustainable ways of doing things,” said Marsha Newbery, Producing for the Planet. “We need to support emerging producers and storytellers so that they can help us pave the way for an industry that benefits both people and the planet."

This initiative was made possible with the generous support of TELUS Local Content, ReelGreen at Creative BC, the Independent Production Fund, and Ontario Green Screen at Ontario Creates.

“Building a sustainable future is one of our core values at TELUS and with this guide the aim is to inspire green habits to equip filmmakers and content creators with the tools they need to make an impact from the early stages of their creative journey,” stated T Bannister, TELUS Local Content, Partnerships & Training.

“The BC Film Commission's Reel Green™ at Creative BC is proud to support the Emerging Producers Guide—a vital, tailored tool that offers environmentally sustainable production practices from the filmmaker's lens,” said Marnie Gee, BC Film Commissioner at Creative BC. “By providing specific resources that are relevant, achievable, and actionable, B.C.'s motion picture industry is collectively working to ensure that sustainability is embedded at every level.”

“We know the Emerging Producer's Guide developed by Producing for the Planet, designed for lower budgets and smaller teams, will be invaluable to emerging creators across Canada to help fulfill their sustainable production and climate storytelling goals,” added Mark Shapland, Program Manager and Climate Lens Facilitator, Independent Production Fund.

“Ontario Green Screen is proud to support filmmakers at all levels of their careers, and provides the tools, training and resources that can be adopted at any level or budget to create a sustainable production“

With the support of these industry partners, Producing for the Planet is taking a significant collective step forward in reducing the carbon and waste footprint of the film industry, empowering filmmakers at every budget level to pursue sustainable production and climate storytelling.
