To reduce energy consumption, waste production, and travel related emissions, we have identified a 3-stage action plan that encompasses: (1) Measuring our impact and progress by aligning with independent industry leaders from the field of carbon management. Our current partnerships include Planet A, experts in calculating carbon footprint and offering software solutions to mitigate the effects, as well as Albert, which works to reduce the environmental impacts of TV and film productions, including providing certification against sustainable production standards. (2) Reducing the company’s carbon footprint by identifying, implementing or improving on environmentally focused best practices such as encouraging recycling, reducing waste, replacing plastic with environmentally friendly alternatives, locally sourced purchasing and ensuring essential business travel only. Brown Bag Films has an active environmental “Green Bag” committee whose mandate is to plan, design, and drive environmental initiatives on behalf of the company. The committee hosts events, shares resources and provides workshops. (3) Offsetting our impact by investing in initiatives that will proactively impact the environment and contribute to carbon storage. We are currently exploring options that include the planting of trees and supporting of natural forests, as well as purchasing carbon credits.
